    About Me

    Emily
Emily Shorey, herself a homeschool graduate, received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Bible from Columbia International University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Boston College. Emily brings her love of teaching, enjoyment of high school students, and passion for psychology to her online classroom. As a practitioner in the field, Emily utilizes an abundance of real life experience and examples in teaching. Specializing in trauma work, Emily spent three years providing home-based counseling services to families and children involved with the MA Department of Social Services. In July, 2011, Emily moved to India, and served as one of the founding directors of Kites Global, an organization that provides services for abused or neglected children and their caregivers. Along with her educational and professional background in the field of psychology, Emily has provided supportive education services to homeschoolers for the past nine years. This has included individual home-tutoring, planning and implementing home-education plans, and teaching classes through Good Company Tutorials. Emily is going into her seventh year teaching Advanced Placement Psychology.

This blog exists for those who want to explore the creativity of God through the study of psychology. It is meant to enhance the learning experience of those taking AP Psychology classes taught by Emily Shorey. Learn more about yourself, your family, your friends, and the world. The study of psychology, as taught by Emily, is intended to go beyond equipping students to take the AP Psychology Exam. It is meant to create a greater awareness in students, resulting in individuals who are skilled in showing compassion to the people around them.
